Emergency Light Testing

The owners and occupiers of commercial premises are required by law, to test and maintain the emergency lighting system.

Voltamp can provide the installation, design, maintenance and testing of your emergency lighting system to ensure conformity with BS5266 as amended.

Emergency lights utilise a battery backup to maintain sufficient illumination to allow you to safely evacuate the building in the event of an emergency, or to safely maintain critical services with task specific lighting. With this in mind, the batteries need to be tested on a regular basis.

Regular maintenance of the emergency lighting system will ensure that staff and visitors can be evacuated and that all fire exits, fire alarm call points and critical equipment such as first aid kits and firefighting equipment have sufficient illumination levels to enable them to be used to save lives.

Voltamp engineers will:

  • Test all light fittings
  • Check lamps
  • Discharge batteries for a period of time
  • Simulate a mains failure
Any faults discovered during maintenance will be recorded in an Emergency Lighting Logbook. Compliance NICEIC certification and documentation issued upon completion.
